Beauty
Firstly in this month’s favourites is the Body Shop Vanilla Pumpkin body butter*! I have always been a fan of Body Shops body butters as they’re super nourishing and always smell divine so when the autumnal vanilla pumpkin scent was released I knew I needed it for these colder months. It is absolutely beautiful and perfect for post-bath moisturising.
Second, is the Baylis & Harding Midnight Rose Body Wash. This body wash smells entirely like parma violets which is just such a nostalgic scent for me and I adore it! It’s super hydrating and is my current go-to wash.
The Bubbling Under bubble bar has become a favourite for me despite the fact I was unsure whether or not to try it! This bubble bar has skin-improving qualities much like the big blue bath bomb which makes a little more luxurious than most. Along with the very accurately described aroma of ‘seaweed drying on a salt-beach after a heavy storm‘ by Lush there are undertones of lime and lavender oil.
As I have mentioned previously I tend to have skin issues over the colder months including my scalp. I’ve been investing in some higher quality, nourishing products including Lush’s Rehab Shampoo. It contains juniper & peppermint which help improves scalp conditioner and also smells divine – but be careful not to get it in your eyes!
Last month I went on a full mission to find a good selection of face masks and throughout November I have not stopped using L’oreal’s anti-blemish face mask*. It’s blue which I love because I feel like a smurf but it’s also both moisturising but helps to reduce blemishes.
I don’t usually purchase new perfumes (I’ve been using Taylor Swift’s Wonderstruck for years!) but I received a sample of Chanel’s new Gabrielle perfume* and I really loved it. It wasn’t overpowering but still smelled good and the scent lasted all day. If I wasn’t such a poor student I would definitely purchase a bottle myself!
And lastly this month I have been loving Barry M Liquid Chrome nail varnishes! The formulation and finish are both wonderful and I adore the colours – definitely a good stocking filler or a little treat for yourself!
Television/Films
This month I’ve been cutting down the amount of television I watch as the number of assignments due has been increasing and increasing, however, as a house, we’ve been watching both The Apprentice & Secret life of 4 & 5 years olds and they’re just perfect evening programs. (Note: I’m also watching I’m a celeb but I’ve got to give it a few more weeks to decide if I like the contestant enough!)
I also re-watched The Longest Ride* which is most definitely one of my favourite Rom Coms so I thought I’d mention it. It’s also now on Netflix!
Netflix released a new Christmas Film – A Christmas Prince – so I leaped at watching it and it was fabulous. I’m really impressed by Netflix originals and dare I say it this may infact be one of my favourite Christmas films.
Music/Youtube/Spotify
- I haven’t featured many Youtube videos recently but I couldn’t not include Lucy Moon’s – When You’re Not Making Any Progress CGWRM. It’s all about being stuck in life/not feeling like you can’t make progress and I think it’s super important especially for our generation so go give it a watch!
- Reputation – Taylor Swift*. Do I really need to say anything? I love Taylor and this is her new album so of course, it’s featured here.
Books
Again, as with television, I haven’t had much of a chance to read this month beyond Dodie’s – Secrets for the mad*. This book is unbelievably beautiful and poetic and inspirational and magical. Although at times it could be triggering – so please be careful if you’re vulnerable – I felt honoured to be able to read something where Dodie is so open and I found it wonderfully helpful.
However, if you’re looking for more book suggestions go check out Katie’s Youtube video – HERE! She talks about some books I love and others I really want to read.
Other
Halloween & Bonfire Night are over so Christmas is here! I’ve started putting up Christmas decorations including a stunning Nutcracker Snow Globe that is also musical. It is beautiful and reminds me of when I saw my first Ballet – the Nutcracker – with my mum and grandma which is one of my absolute favourite memories.
Now I can’t write a whole post and not feature the amazing game Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. This has quite frankly taken over my entire life and I love the daily drop of nostalgia! It is also far better than I’d anticipated and it’s free so seriously go download it!
And lastly is Costas Black Forest hot chocolate & Rudolph cake! They are perfect, warming Christmas treats for cold afternoons of Christmas shopping in town or catch-ups with friend and family.
