I thought it might be nice to have a little catch-up so grab a cuppa and maybe a few biscuits too (bourbons and party rings being my frequent choices!).
‘Where have I been?’ feels like such a huge and confusing and interesting question and honestly, I have no idea where to begin. Since I’m sat in my bedroom as I type this, I guess location is a place to start! Erin and I currently reside in a ground-floor flat in Surrey with our gorgeous cat, Alan. (Wait! Have I even introduced Alan to this page? I’ll attach a picture below: fair warning – he’s perfect and you will instantly fall in love). Will Surrey be our forever home? For now, Surrey is home but a move to Somerset is certainly on the horizon.

I can feel myself getting nervous to even broach the ‘health’ part of this update, so I think I’ll get that update done next! Health is such an odd one, again I have no idea where I was at when I last posted and frankly, I hate the idea of this update because it feels so doom and glooms. So, let’s keep it short and simple for now. I have a dx of Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome alongside a bunch of other things and am severely disabled, currently unable to formally work and things are hard. But there’s light ahead, I should start physical rehabilitation at some point to aim to decrease the decline in my health (and maybe even improve it!) and I have the most wonderful team of doctors behind me! (Something younger Char would struggle to believe). On a wholly positive note, my mental health is certainly better than it was and is stable. Sure, I’m awaiting EMDR and C-PTSD can be in a pain in the ass but I’m in such a better place than I was and am so very grateful for that.
Moving onwards I thought I’d share a bit about how I spend my days! I regularly attend a disabled Pilates company who do not just exercise classes (including from your bed which is ideal for me!) but social activities too! I can’t believe I’m saying this but I *finally* have found movement I enjoy! The socials are also incredible including a Book Club which I’ve wanted to join for years. That segues us nicely into talking about books – something I’m still obsessed with. I’m on my 9th book of the year and loving not just my typical re-reads but lots of new novels too. I don’t think anything could or would ever take away my love for books.
Something new to me is a love of crafts! Erin and I started getting kits for our Saturday date nights and it sparked a real passion in me (though sadly not a natural ability). I love all kinds of things – diamond art, painting, colouring, embroidery and more. Being creative in this way is so wonderful and that feeling of finishing a project is just incredible. I also should mention my rather huge obsession with Lego! It is something I just adore, and I cannot wait to share some of the models I build.
Lastly, for now, on how I spend my days is gaming. I am the epitome of a ‘cosy gamer’ with Animal Crossing and Dreamlight Valley up there in my favourites. It’s such a wonderful ‘from bed’ activity and something that provides distraction and escapism. I’m excited to share some reviews of games and what I’m playing regularly on here!
Before I end there is one thing I cannot believe I haven’t mentioned – Erin and I are officially getting married in October! We are both so excited for it and I will for-sure be writing about it all soon. Eek, I can’t wait to be his wife!
See you all soon, xx
